Raw Footage VS. I Am The West

Sun, Nov 7, 2010 at 11:39 AM By: Ca$hOnly

I'm sorry to say this but since I Am The West was released i listen more and more to the Raw Footage album. Maybe it's just because i don't react good and quickly to changes...maybe it's because i'm more like an old school person...or maybe it's just because Raw Footage it's better than I Am The West, i'm not sure which one is it!

Now let me hear yours...

I have to comment on here.

Raw Footage was an amazing album, and showed that Cube still has a political edge. It's my favourite of his new albums. If you listen closely, it's got some really good messages that are not obvious except to the seasoned listener. I love the album and think it's one of the best albums of the decade.

I feel that I Am The West is not bad. There are about 8-9 songs that I really like, but I wasn't a fan of the songs with the repetitive hooks, they seemed like fillers to me. I think that Cube was expecting a couple dre produced songs, but since they never got finished for some reason, Cube had to come up with other songs. Just my opinion. I also think that the extra 2 songs on itunes should have been on the album. So I think this album was supposed to be better, but didn't exactly work out.
Perhaps my favourite song is "Hood Robbin", where he goes all out on the banks and shows that classic Ice Cube knowledge and flow. Great song that should be used as a theme song in any of the hollywood movies coming out that are dealing with the financial crisis.

    Peace!

I guess the Old School songs are the better songs of Cube. Because at Raw Footage, all of the songs were hardcore and they told the truth. At I Am The West, some of the songs are just to listing and bounce on, and some of 'em are only 2min long!!! I'm not saying I Am The West is a bad album, no, not at all!
Raw Footage is, in my opinion, better. Maybe you think the same way.

I hear ya, G. There are some things that I didn't care for either like repeating the hooks over and over so much. I like his story telling better. Peace, T.

Raw footage used to be my favourit album, but now I don't like it so much.. I actually don't no why... I have been listening only Laugh now, cry later for a couple last months until I am the west came out and I'm glad it came! Raw footage is still tight but I am the west is harder... But however, it's difficult to say what album is the best of the best.

Hey, even the Gangstas gotta have fun sometimes, man! Sometimes you're going to like an old album more than a new one. It's always that way. I like "I Am The West" but of course I still play the old shit. Cube's an OG and is still on top. He's smart and doing all the other stuff too, makin' that cheddar. Some people bring up Tupac once in awhile but look where he's at. No good for anyone-family, friends, and fans. I hope Cube still keeps evolving and growing out. How about a late night Hip Hop talk show on cable? Never know what may work unless you try. I just hope Cube keeps rappin' for a few more years, making the Haters shed them tears, 'cause here comes the Wiz 4 biz, in their face, can't take the OG's place! Peace, T.

I didn't listen to Raw Footage as much when I first got it mainly because of the tracklisting. I've been listening to it a lot lately with the tracklist reworked with extras, today in fact... It's a solid album... I Am The West is a good album but it just seems unfinished... I think it was supposed to be bigger than it was with work from "other people" but it didn't work out. Cube just had to keep it moving and put the album out... I believe Cube should have left in the extras on it also...

Nah you're right Raw Footage was political like Ice Cube use to be but I'Am The West is just for fun.
Ice Cube said it himself, and the sells are bad.
The best songs were the bonus songs so............
I guess he didn't care cause he got money enough he makes movies tv shows.........
Raw Footage was a really good album with a strong message almost all the was good to me(i'm a bit difficult).
